& The Secret Doctrine

Section VI

 2.  Gods, Monads & Atoms

“Whence the substance that clothes them—the apparent organism

they evolve around their centres?”  (Blavatsky, p. 632)

The Secret Doctrine maintains that the universe is founded upon an original zero point laya centre which further differentiate into seven zero point centres.  Whether a Universe, a quantum or an individual divine spark, the laws of nature manifest in the material worlds are due to Divine and spiritual forces and intelligences emerging within/without through seven dimensional zero point dynamics.  Seven minute ‘holes dug in space’ are the means by which higher dimensional forces sculpt the void through the process of creation and these form the metaphysical base of the laws of physical nature.   Blavatsky offers this explanation of the “Forces of Nature:”

... all the so-called Forces of Nature … are in esse, i.e., in their ultimate constitution, the differentiated aspects of that Universal Motion. ...  Fohat is said to produce “Seven Laya Centres” … the GREAT LAW … modifies its perpetual motion on seven invisible points within the area of the manifested Universe.  “The great Breath digs through Space seven holes into Laya to cause them to circumgyrate during Manvantara.”  (Occult Catechism). … “Seven Neutral Centres,” then are produced by Fohat ….  (S.D., I , pp.147-8)

Blavatsky describes the great Breath or Law as “digging holes in Space” to channel intelligence and influences into the material realm.  Any Cosmos, any Universe, any Monad (a divine or spiritual spark), any atom or quantum, is thus “worked and guided from within outwards” through the dynamics of such zero point centres.  A Stanza of Dzyan reads: “The Sons expand and contract through their own selves and hearts; they embrace infinitude. ...  Each is a part of the web.  Reflecting the “Self-existing Lord” like a mirror, each becomes in turn a world.”  (p.489)  The expansion and contraction of the Sons is through the zero point laya centre associated with the heart and each individual in turn becomes a world.  At the heart of the universe, a galaxy, the sun, a quantum and a human being are such zero point laya centres, whereby the gods and other invisible powers clothe themselves in bodies.  Thus, life within a living being originates within/without out of higher space dimensions through the dynamics of a multidimensional heart.

In elaborating upon the nature of Monads, Blavatsky distinguishes three distinct “Hosts” or classes, which:

counted from the highest planes are, firstly, “gods,” or conscious, spiritual Egos; the intelligent architects, who work after the plan in the Divine Mind.  Then come the Elementals, or Monads, who form collectively and unconsciously the grand Universal Mirrors of everything connected with their respective realms.  Lastly, the atoms, or material molecules, which are informed in their turn by their apperceptive monads, just as every cell in a human body is so informed.  There are shoals of such informed atoms which, in their turn, inform the molecules ….  (p. 632)

Gods, Monads and Atoms, form a hierarchy of dimensions of inner existence as propagated from within without, and which inform material and energetic processes manifested within a realm of existence.  Each Monad is a Mirror of “everything connected to their respective realms.” as information is holographically stored. These multidimensional zero point dynamics are propagated or reiterated through higher dimensional space.

Blavatsky then asks: “Whence the substance that clothes them—the apparent organism they evolve around their centres?”  She then answers, explaining that:

the Formless (“Arupa”) Radiations … in harmony of Universal Will … unite together an infinitude of monads—each a mirror of its own Universe—and thus individualize for the time being an independent mind, omniscient and universal; and by the process of magnetic aggregation they create for themselves objective, visible bodies, out of the interstellar atoms.  For atoms and Monads, associated or dissociated, simple or complex, are, from the moment of the first differentiation, but the principles, corporeal, psychic and Spiritual, of the “Gods,”—themselves the Radiations of primordial nature.  (pp. 632-633)

Behind atoms are Monads, behind these are Gods and behind those, are the radiations of primordial nature.  There is a whole hierarchy of inner metaphysical processes which inform and sustain living beings from within-without through zero point dynamics proceeding within higher dimensional Space—whether a molecule, a cell, a human being, a planet, a solar system, or a galaxy.  These centres have magnetic properties and then serve to attract or draw upon matters produced by the ethers of space.

So, how are the centres “clothed”?  The intelligences of a hierarchy of beings manifest through multidimensional zero-point dynamics, and Fohat conveys these influences through energetic dynamics.  Further, these energetic centres, through magnetic aggregation, create bodies for themselves out of ‘interstellar atoms’ (in the case of a solar system or galaxy, or other ‘foods’ for other beings.)   This is a remarkable conception of the inward structures and dynamics underlying existence.

Blavatsky describes such effects as propagated through different dimensions:

The one Cosmic atom becomes seven atoms on the plane of matter, and each is transformed into a centre of energy; that same atom becomes seven rays on the plane of spirit, and the seven creative forces of nature, radiating from the root-essence … The atoms emanated from the Central Point emanate in their turn new centres of energy, which, under the potential breath of Fohat, begin their work from within without, and multiply other minor centres.  These, in the course of evolution and involution, form in their turn the roots or developing causes of new effects, from worlds and “man-bearing” globes, down to the genera, species, and classes of all the seven kingdoms ….  (p. 635)

The opening illustration depicts how a point within the central seed of life might multiply through a complex of higher dimensions through generations of causes and effects, as the same patterns of creation are re-iterated on successive planes of being.  There are seven such centres depicted along the central axis of the figure.

In The Secret Doctrine, the Seven Sons of Fohat link Spirit above to Matter below and spin their magic through seven holes dug in space, the seven invisible centres within the Eternal Parent Space.  The Universe, or any living Cosmos, is set upon such a foundation. These ‘holes dug in space’ might be regarded as seven mini white or black holes, according to whether we are speaking of the emergence or dissipation of a Cosmos.  The seven holes ‘dug in space’ are ‘whirlwinds’ of activity—modifications of the Ceaseless Breath—which just like black holes, may have mass, rotational and spin properties, electric charge and magnetic moment.

Modern physics now actually supports such concepts and makes them more intelligible, rather than discrediting them as invented or exaggerated as H. P. B. describes. In fact, The Secret Doctrine postulates a holographic universe with a higher seven dimensional Eternal Parent Space underlying familiar reality, instead of the 5 dimensional anti-de Sitter space postulated within contemporary science.  Further, instead of there being a singular black hole processor, there are seven interrelated processors, and seven surfaces or shells surrounding the central element—as layers of the Aether.  Actually, we might consider there to be six surrounding surfaces while the seventh layer is the foundation of the central element.  These dynamics are multiplied within without through various levels of higher dimensional space within the hierarchies of creation.

Thus, the metaphysics of a seven dimensional Monad in hyperspace or the Eternal Parent Space, with mass and spin properties of its seven holes dug in space, might be rendered equivalent to the physics of worlds spun out of spirit and matter which surround the central element—clothing it in different bodies.  The six holographic shells surrounding the Monad are the basis for the physical bodies manifesting out of the ethers of Space.  The metaphysics of the Monad in hyperspace with its seven holes dug in space could be rendered equivalence to the physics of the material and energetic processes made manifest in the seven bodies of the Kosmos or a human being.  Blavatsky depicts a ‘web’ of spirit and matter spun around such central Laya Centres within holographic Space.  [1]

Remarkably, modern physics is arriving at such zero point levels of creation and now posits just such a new ‘metaphysics’ to supplement the familiar physics of matter and energy within time and space.  Of course, scientists would declare that there is nothing ‘mystical’ about holographic theory, information theory, black holes in alternative space dimensions, singularities, hyperspace or the quantum ether, or any of their theories and concepts, but that assessment is simply an expression of their prejudices and bias and not based upon any factual evidence and considered argument.  There are many concepts from the Secret Doctrines illustrated by modern physical theories and speculations.

Another example concerns how physicists now consider that a string might be expanded from a essentially a point size at Planckian levels into any possible size according to the amount of energy added which expands the string structure.  L. Susskind notes:

Strings that are highly excited are bigger on average than their ground state counterparts; the additional energy whips them around and stretches them to a longer length.  If you could bombard a string with enough energy, it would spread out and become as big as a violently jittering, tangled ball of yarn.  And there is no limit; with even more energy, the string could be excited to any size.  … black holes—even those giants at the centres of galaxies—are enormously large, tangled “monster strings.”  (2008, pp. 337-8)

Might dynamics occurring through the zero point centres similarly lead to expanding structures within both hyperspace and then physical space dimensions?  Further, as black holes (or white holes) might be such tangled monster strings, we can conceive of how multidimensional holes dug in space could be the basis of such expanding structures through dimensions of hyperspace and then for these dynamics to produce an expanding Kosmos within different materialized dimensions of existence, due to the presence of the ethers of space—the holographic shells or boundaries, the veils of nature.

Spirit (Intelligence) ensouls matter through zero point dynamics and the circumgyrating motions of the seven Fohats—seven variants of Cosmic Electricity—within the seven ethers of Space.   These metaphysical processes in a higher dimensional space are rendered equivalent to outward worlds of seemingly separate material particles moving about in external four-dimensional spacetime. The central point is thus ‘clothed’ in different bodies. In Blavatsky’s view, there are varied external four-dimensional spacetime realms—physical, astral and mental worlds, each an illusory projection of dynamics founded upon another of the holographic boundaries or shells but created surrounding the central holes dug in space.  Living beings have such LIFE Centres, as Monads existing within the Eternal Parent Space, and the outward physics of life is created as a great Chain of Being surrounding the higher dimensional metaphysics of a Monad in Hyperspace.

In terms of the holographic paradigm, a seven dimensional white hole—black hole zero point centre is established within a seven-dimensional Eternal Parent Space.  The whirlwind activities emanating from this centre might appear as a radiant sun on the surfaces of the boundary spaces and give rise to material particles of different densities on different holographic shells.   The modern physical concepts of mini-black holes as having mass and spin properties, and spewing out information, are all quite consistent with Blavatsky’s archaic teachings.  Divine Mind acts through such zero point centres and dynamics, which might manifest as hot radiations and materials on successive holographic shells, the seven ethers of space.  A web of interrelationship is spun out of Spirit and Matter through levels of a multi-dimensional holographic universe.  Each Star, each Universe, each Son or Monad, embodies such a higher dimensional geometry and metaphysics emerging within-without from zero point centres.

The newest models of the seven dimensional Calabi-Yau elements with multiple interior holes, of quantum information theory and the baffling holism of quantum theory, the manner in which “It” comes from “Q-bit” as material-energetic systems emerge from a quantized realm of information, the physics of black holes—all of these theories combined with explorations of singularities and vacuum genesis, serve to illustrate the profound secret doctrine explained by Blavatsky in 1888.  While the scientists of her day conceived of solid material particles bouncing around in empty space and influencing each other through only local effects, Blavatsky was elaborating a holographic model of holes dug in higher dimensional Space as the basis for the manifestation of Kosmos, Atoms and Man.  In Blavatsky’s view, there are no phenomena due simply to ‘local effects’ because all manifest phenomena are produced by this inner hierarchy of effects reiterated through higher dimensions.

The history of the past century of physics and cosmology demonstrates major advances in substantiating concepts elaborated within The Secret Doctrine—in terms of understanding creation dynamics and the laws of physics and metaphysics.  This is really quite astonishing.  The Secret Doctrine presents a holographic model which reveals external reality to be ultimately, an illusory projection of metaphysical processes.

[1]  Blavatsky describes ordinary space and location as ‘illusory’ and suggests that there are innumerable worlds interpenetrating our own space, however invisible these are to us.  This is similar to how different images can be projected from a hologram by simply shifting the angle of the laser light source.
